Dry‑slope manufacturer Skitrax is highlighting alternative uses for its tough LiftTrax SP material, noting it offers a way for conventional ski resorts a way to eliminate one of the sport’s most persistent interruptions: road crossings.

As ski areas expand and infrastructure grows, more pistes are being cut by access roads, sections where snow usually  melts fastest and skiers are forced to remove their skis. Skitrax says its LiftTrax SP system provides a permanent, safe connection between separated slopes, restoring continuous ski runs even in low‑snow conditions.

The system uses modular HDPE sliding mats that can be temporarily laid over a road or built directly into the road surface. Skiers and snowboarders can glide across the crossing without stopping, while cover plates ensure the roadway remains level and fully passable for vehicles.

Skitrax positions LiftTrax SP as a year‑round, low‑maintenance solution suitable for both new developments and existing resorts. The company says the technology offers several benefits: safer crossings, uninterrupted runs, quick installation, and the ability to maintain ski flow during warm spells or thin snowpack.

By turning road interruptions back into skiable terrain, Skitrax believes LiftTrax SP could provide a simple, scalable fix for thousands of ski areas facing increasingly fragmented slopes.
