A series of concept designs released by Skitrax’s Innovation LAB outlines how modern dry‑ski mats could transform unused urban spaces into multi‑sport winter hubs. The study positions dry‑slope infrastructure as a sustainable alternative to snowmaking, enabling skiing and snowboarding without reliance on cold temperatures or high‑energy systems.

One proposed model reimagines hotel rooftops as compact slopestyle parks, complete with lighting, lounge decks and city views. Another envisions a harbourfront jib park built into former industrial land, blending rails, curved lines and public art to revitalise underused waterfronts. A third concept integrates jumps and rails directly into a classic city park, using natural terrain and finishing with an airbag landing zone for safer progression. A fourth design places a modular ramp structure in a busy urban plaza, merging ski features with skate‑style elements.

The study emphasises year‑round accessibility, youth engagement and flexible installation. With mats and ramps designed to be modular, the facilities can be relocated or adapted as city needs evolve. Skitrax says the concepts demonstrate how urban skiing could become a sociocultural anchor—offering low‑cost access, community spaces and new training environments for Olympic‑pathway athletes.
