Snowboarding legend Shaun White made an unannounced visit to Wy’East Mountain Academy in the US this week, dropping into a summer snowboard camp session and drawing a crowd of excited campers at the Mt. Hood, Oregon facility.

The academy operates year‑round training programs and June–July summer camps built around trampolines, skate facilities, mountain‑bike trails and one of North America’s largest dry‑slope and airbag setups — an 80‑foot‑(25m) wide, 200‑foot‑(60m) long ramp designed for progression in a safe environment.

White spent time with campers at the top of the airbag jump, exchanging fist bumps before sending a high, inverted trick into the bag. He slid out on landing but laughed it off, prompting cheers from the group.

Wy’East staff highlighted the value of exposing young riders to elite athletes, noting that White’s appearance added energy to a program focused on developing both academic and athletic skills. The academy enrolls students in grades 7–12 and offers sport‑specific coaching for skiing, snowboarding, skateboarding and mountain biking.
