World’s New Highest Capacity Chairlift Uses Liftrax Mats

A record will be set this winter with a new 68-dseater chairlift going into service in Austria capable of carrying more people up the slopes than any chairlift that has gone before it.

The new Eibergbahn chairlift in the giant Austrian SkiWelt region above the resort town of Scheffau is also set to be largely energy self-sufficient thanks to solar panels on its base station.

To ensure seamless operations with such a high throughput of people the SkiWelt has installed  Lifttrax sliding mats from Skitrax World to provide a reliable surface.

The 2cm high studs in the diamond system trap dirt and small stones which means that skis or snowboards are no longer damaged on the surface and optimum gliding to the chairlift is guaranteed. Hundreds of lifts all over the world have been using our Lifttrax glide mat system for many years.

The new lift has a maximum travel speed of 5m/s, is equipped with seat heating and deliberately without a canopy for wind and resource-related reasons. In the interests of energy efficiency and resource conservation, variable seat insertion will be possible from a minimum of 16 seats, depending on requirements.

A centerpiece of the new Eibergbahn will be the new 140 kWP PV system on the roof of the valley station of the Eibergbahn. This can generate around 50% of the annual energy required. Another milestone in the complete energy efficiency of the SkiWelt cable cars.
