Dry Ski Slope Planned for Preston

A dry ski slope has been announced as one of the attractions at a proposed £60m multi-sports centre planned for Preston.
Christened ‘Phoenix Park’ the centre would be a development of the existing Trax education and sporting facility, which was established 20 years ago on the banks of the city’s Ribble Estuary near Preston Docks.
Local media reports that a planning application has gone in for a £10m “first phase” of the project and the developer is reported to have the £10m in place to fund that, with completion due by 2022 if permission is granted.
The dry ski slope as well as a water sports centre, wave pool, skateboard park and electric motorbike and car circuits are part of the proposed £50m ‘second phase’ poof the project.
The centre would have a sustainable power source, with power generated on-site from wind and solar, and have a mandate to educate young people on reducing carbon emissions whilst also providing outdoor sports facilities.
