Neveplast Selected To Supply Ski Area At Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics and Paralympics
In the heart of Milan, during one of the most symbolic moments for Italian and international sport, Neveplast helped bring winter disciplines closer to the public than ever before. As the city geared up for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, the company played a central role inside the Eni Winter Village in Piazza Città di Lombardia, where it partnered with Versalis (Eni) to design and build an urban cross‑country ski track. The installation offered thousands of visitors the chance to experience an authentic taste of Nordic skiing without leaving the city.
Between 6 February and 15 March, more than 3,500 people stepped onto the Neveplast X‑Country track, marking a remarkable level of participation. Children, adults, families, school groups and complete beginners took turns on the loop, many trying skis for the very first time. The response underscored a clear trend: when winter sports are made accessible, intuitive and fun, people are eager to give them a try.

A defining feature of the project was its inclusive and educational approach. Every participant had access to qualified instructors and full equipment rental, ensuring that even first‑timers could enjoy the experience safely and confidently. During the Paralympic period, the track also welcomed visitors with disabilities, offering a supported and fully inclusive environment that reflected the spirit of the Games. For many, it was a meaningful introduction to cross‑country skiing in a setting designed to remove barriers rather than create them.
At the centre of the initiative was the new Neveplast XC system, engineered to replicate the sensation of skiing on real snow. The surface was produced using HDPE Balance® and EVA Balance® materials supplied by Versalis, derived up to 98% from renewable sources and certified ISCC PLUS. The result was a sustainable, technical loop that allowed users to try both skating and classic techniques with smooth glide, reliable grip and a realistic feel underfoot.

Elsewhere in the city, Neveplast brought another winter favourite to life. Throughout February, the company’s snowtubing slopes in Piazza Tre Torri at CityLife Milano became one of the standout attractions of the “Ice & Fun Milano Cortina 2026” programme. The simple, instantly enjoyable activity—sit in a Tubby and slide—proved irresistible to children and adults alike. The area remained lively and consistently busy, with hundreds of young visitors discovering the thrill of a downhill run in the middle of Milan.

Sustainability remained a guiding principle across both projects. The CityLife installation incorporated real trees that will be reused after the event, while Neveplast’s technology delivered snow‑like sliding without the need for electricity or water, reducing environmental impact while maintaining high levels of fun and accessibility.
For Neveplast CEO Niccolò Bertocchi, the projects represent a milestone. “Being selected for initiatives connected to the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games is a great source of pride for us. Bringing cross‑country skiing into an urban square and offering an immediate, engaging activity like snowtubing means helping to spread winter sports culture. These initiatives break down geographical barriers and make winter disciplines accessible to everyone, combining sport, fun and inclusivity in a unique urban environment.”
