Romanian Mountain Resort Adds Dry Ski Slope

Izvoare Resort is positioning itself as one of Romania’s most forward‑thinking mountain destinations after unveiling a major four‑season expansion built in partnership with Neveplast, the global specialist in synthetic ski and leisure surfaces. The new Neveplast ski area marks a decisive step in the resort’s transformation, enabling year‑round sport and recreation regardless of weather or natural snow.

The development builds on a successful collaboration that began in 2024, when Izvoare installed a Neveplast SKIDDY Drift Kart track. The ice‑driving simulation quickly became one of the resort’s most popular attractions, drawing strong visitor numbers and demonstrating the appetite for innovative, all‑season activities. Encouraged by the response, the resort’s leadership committed to a broader investment designed to turn Izvoare into a fully active, 365‑day destination blending sport, training and family‑friendly entertainment.

At the heart of the expansion is a new Neveplast ski slope covering around 2,000 m² and stretching 90 metres, fully customised with Izvoare’s branding. Suitable for both skiing and snowboarding, the slope supports everything from first‑time lessons to technical training sessions. Crucially, it allows ski schools, clubs and youth programmes to operate continuously throughout the year, removing the traditional constraints of winter seasonality. Resort managers say this positions Izvoare as a model for destinations seeking to extend their snow‑sports offering while maintaining high standards of safety, progression and accessibility.

Complementing the sports infrastructure is a large Neveplast FUN Area designed to broaden the resort’s appeal to families and non‑skiers. The zone features the SKIDDY drift‑kart track, two 80‑metre TUBBY tubing lanes and two 80‑metre SKLIDE lanes for children and families. All sliding areas, along with the ski slope, are supported by a Sunkid conveyor belt system, improving comfort and accessibility for guests.

The resort’s operators say the mix of adrenaline attractions and family‑friendly activities increases dwell time and creates a more inclusive experience for visitors of all ages.

Flaviu Lese, CEO of Izvoare Resort Srl Maramureș, described the partnership as a milestone in the resort’s evolution, praising Neveplast for helping bring “something truly special to Maramureș” and inspiring the team to raise standards and redefine what exceptional winter experiences can be.

With its blend of sport, training and leisure, Izvoare is emerging as a case study for modern mountain tourism. For Neveplast, the project demonstrates its mission to make skiing and outdoor fun accessible and sustainable year‑round, supporting destinations as they adapt to a more flexible, climate‑resilient future.
