Scottish Slope Upgraded
Newmilns Snowsports Complex in East Ayrshire, Scotland, has completed a full upgrade of its nursery slope, installing the latest version of Proslope’s artificial ski surface system.
The installation marks the end of a 15-year run for the centre’s original Proslope matting, which has now been replaced with the manufacturer’s third-generation surface technology. The new system, known as Proslope v3, includes several engineering improvements designed to enhance durability, rider comfort, and operational efficiency.
Key upgrades include a more flexible mat base for smoother transitions, reinforced bristles for extended lifespan, and a redesigned clip system, Proslope Connect, intended to improve structural integrity and ease of fitting. The surface also integrates an atomised misting system that reduces water usage while maintaining adequate lubrication for skiing and boarding.
Installation was completed over a three-day period by a two-person fitting team, covering more than 350 mats. The rapid turnaround minimised disruption to the centre’s operations and allowed for a swift return to public use.
