Woodward Facility Coming to Sydney
A Woodward indoor freestyle training centre has been announced for Sydney, Australia, the first in the Southern Hemisphere.
The extensive new facility being created at Castle Towers Shopping Centre in the city’s Castle Hill area promises a variety of experiences skateboarding and BMX to rock climbing as well as skiing and snowboarding.
Set to open later this year the 3650-square-metre multi-use complex will feature a skate park, a pump track, scooter, snowboarding, bouldering, aerial awareness, foam pits, and a gym.
The sports centre has received a $1.8 million AUD in grant funding from the New South Wales government in the form of via a grant from the Greater Sydney Sports Facility Fund in a bid to increase visibility and participation, especially in women’s sports.
The precise features for skiers and snowboarders have not yet been confirmed.
With a Woodward facility that had opened in Mexico now permanently closed, Sydney will be the only Woodward outside of North America, where there are currently eight Woodward centres.
