Dry Slope Returning To Burning Man Festival
The Black Rock City (BRC) Snow Club are returning to the Burning Man Festival during its 2024 run from August 25 to September 2nd, 2024.
Last year the BRC Club debuted the festival’s first dry ski slope and will be returning this summer with an improved set up.
The Burning Man Festival, staged each year in the Black Rock desert of Nevada sees up to 80,000 people participate. The desert environment is hot, with temperatures regularly above 90F and dusty, providing a challenge for dry ski slope surfaces.
Last year the Festival made headlines as after the first half of the week was, as usually, hot and dry, torrential rain left campers literally stuck in the mud, a further challenge for The BRC Snow Club’s slope.
This year the Black Rock City (BRC) Snow Club are joining forces with an ‘Alien Ski Resort’ themed camp.
The Club has been raising funds ahead of this year’s festival, recently raising money for repairs and upgrades to the slope,
“We did it! Thank you to our amazing donors who helped us hit the $8,000 goal for our Kickstarter! This means we’ll be able to repair the damage to the lower ramp and bring the slope back to Black Rock City this year!” a Club spokesperson said.
The Club have also been assembling their slope at other events around the US West, most recently at unSCruz and have announced plans to upgrade their slope further when funding allows.
