Official Opening of New US Freestyle Jump

The opening ceremony of the new freestyle water jump took place in Bristol Mountain in New York State recently. Bristol Mountain is a well-known winter sports resort near the town of Canandaigua in the eastern US. not far south of Lake Ontario.

Many celebrities (including Olympic participants) came to admire the jump’s unique construction which includes an automatically tilting jump table.

The jump is about 12m high, with an approach of 30m to the jump table and then it goes from about 5m directly into the water of the mountain lake.

Many young athletes also took the opportunity to make their first jumps on the Watertrax mats from Germany-based firm Skitrax. The water jump is open all summer until October.

Predominantly financed by private funds and sponsors, the facility, which was first planned in 2021,  offers optimal training opportunities in the summer for the athletes of the “Greater Rochester Area” and the province of New York, so that they can optimally prepare for the major events including the Winter Olympics, World Championships and World Cup competitions in various disciplines (moguls, aerial, slopestyle).
