Singapore Opening Ski, Snowboard, Surf and Skate Centre
Singapore will see a new complex offering skating, surfing, skiing and snowboarding at the end of October. It means that board sport enthusiasts will be able to attempt both winter and summer sports on the same day at the venue.
The Ride Side, Trifecta will span over 4,609 sqm on Somerset Road in the island country and is set to open on October 28th next to the existing Somerset Skate Park and will operate from 7am to midnight daily.
The Ride Side Trifecta will have facilities for both beginners and experienced riders to learn or train for winter sports. There will be ski simulator machines with speed simulation which can accommodate up to six riders at a time. There will also be a freestyle area fitted with dry slopes and airbags.
The Ride Side Trifecta says it will also be home to “the world’s first hybrid skate bowl designed for skateboarding and surfskating,” The surf arena will have Asia’s largest and deepest standing wave pool, which is 10m wide and generates 1.5m-high waves.
“Despite the growing interest in board sports in Asia, we realised there weren’t enough spaces at home that allowed people to discover, watch and learn,” co-founder of The Ride Side, Ms Daphne Goh, commented, adding, “At Trifecta by The Ride Side, we welcome all who are interested in board sports to take that first step with us, and for all enthusiasts to continue to hone their skills and share their experiences with the greater community.”
The Ride Side will also have a restaurant and a shop offering custom ski and snowboard boot fitting services, equipment maintenance and demo boards that can be tested in the various arenas.
The complex is reported to be part of a $500 million injection of funds to boost tourism after the covid 19 pandemic.
