New Hybrid Ski and Tubing Area Created in Germany
The 4-star Family Hotel Elldus at the small German ski resort of Oberwiesenthal has had a new hybrid ski and tubing slope created for it by Skitrax World.
The hotel’s new ski and tubing centre is served by a 30 metre long conveyor lift which accesses about 600 m2 of Tubtrax / Slopetrax mats.
Initially a two-lane tubing track will open from August with Tubtrax-M2.2 modules have been placed under the mats to provide barriers to make the tubing lanes ready and guarantee no stones or dirt gets on the mats. Next to it the Slopetrax mats for the ski run are current being finished.
Skitrax World’s Dry Slope Drain Fleece (DSDF) was rolled out initially, with the mats installed on the fleece to ensure perfect water drainage as well.
Once open, children and adults can have fun on the tubing track and the local ski school will offer tuition with ski rental via their own children’s ski school.
At the end of the summer/autumn season the Tubtrax-M2.2 modules are removed, the mats fall to the ground, are fixed and the whole area becomes a ski slope. As soon as it gets cold, the snow guns provides a perfect snow layer on top of the dry slope.
